87. ZombiesRun Virtual Race 10K, Fall 2016

87. ZombiesRun Virtual Race 10K, Fall 2016

Time for the 10K event in the ZombiesRun Fall 2016 Race! Just like last time, there are two leaderboards and two sets of results. There’s access to Rofflenet and training missions and everything else that we had last time, plus a few improvements to the website.

79. Jimmy the Greek’s Maine Mall 5K, 2015

79. Jimmy the Greek’s Maine Mall 5K, 2015

This race is kind of special, because it’s the only one in New England that I’ve done three times. In Charleston this was common, but since then I’ve moved a bunch of times and just didn’t have the roots required to be a regular anywhere. This lovely race is a confirmation that I am now a permanent Mainer.

Throwing Shoes

Throwing Shoes

I’m not a stranger to running in the snow, but this year the weekly blizzards have kept me shoveling instead of running. And it’s been really cold. But I’m back now, and apparently my gear is all worn out. My jackets and shirts and things are okay, but my shoe spikes are apparently fed up […]

Our New House of Snow

Our New House of Snow

Lately my wife and I found our dream house in winter, and got nice and settled just before being magically transported to Jotunheim. Winter has been especially grumpy this year, and has dropped three giant snow storms on us in the space of a week. These things have names. Actual names. There was Juno, and then […]

78. Snowy Egret 5K, 2014

78. Snowy Egret 5K, 2014

This one was a bit odd. The website had the name of the race, the date… and that’s it. The Active.com page had an address for the Starting Line, but that was a mile from the registration desk. I guess they thought only local people would show up.

77. Jimmy the Greeks Maine Mall 5K, 2014

My wife and I did this race last year, and it had some problems. In fact, I called it a mess. I wanted to try it again because it’s a newer race and the organizers seem to have been hit with a stroke of bad luck. I wanted to see what the next race would be like, and I wasn’t disappointed.

MS Harborfest Shoreside 5K, 2013

Action Start

I didn’t run this one, so I managed to get some pics of the winners. I also got to help Cara promote her new gluten free home bakery, Galley Goodies. We showed off the food, answered questions, met some nice folks and saw a 5K from another perspective. First, let’s talk about the event. It’s […]

Does 40 Mean Anything?

Birthday Gifts for My 40th

I woke up Monday morning, and I was 40 years old. My phone already had updates from insomniac friends wishing me a happy birthday, and our new puppy was already trying to eat my wife’s hair. So far, aside from the Facebook stuff, it’s just like yesterday. But is there anything else to it? Should […]

Big Recon Around Portland

Toboggan Trail

I’ve been running around Portland for a while now, and I’ve noticed all sorts of little trails that go around the peninsula. It’s hard to see exactly where they meet each other from a Google map, so I decided to just wander around the edge of town until I figured it out. The weather was nice, and I took lots of pictures.
